Food spending can easily get out of hand without a plan in place. If you cook a majority of your meals at home, the USDA estimates that a moderate budget for adults is $260-310 per month. Eating out 1-2 meals a day can add an additional $200 more per month. Consider setting a goal for yourself of a maximum number of meals each week that you will eat out from a restaurant.

Bama Dining also offers a commuter meal plan that may help you take advantage of on-campus dining options between classes or on days when you’re pressed for time.
